As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our Pre-Contracts team and play a key role in securing major projects across the Energy sector.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, competitive and high-quality mechanical estimates for major bids and tenders across renewable energy, utilities, resources and infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineering, commercial, project delivery and client stakeholders, you'll help shape winning bid strategies and contribute to UGL's continued growth in the energy market.
This is an opportunity for a highly experienced estimator to influence major project pursuits while working within a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely mechanical estimates for large-scale tenders and proposals

  • Develop direct and indirect cost estimates using UGL estimating systems and tools

  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, project and operational teams throughout the tender lifecycle

  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive pricing and market intelligence

  • Participate in tender reviews, client meetings, post-tender discussions and pre-award negotiations

  • Review estimates prepared by other estimators and provide technical guidance where required

  • Conduct detailed tender handovers to project delivery teams following award

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across estimating systems, processes and methodologies

What You'll Bring

  • Extensive estimating experience within renewable energy, utilities, resources, infrastructure or related sectors

  • Strong mechanical estimating capability across EPC, construction or industrial projects

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (desirable)

  • Demonstrated ability to develop competitive cost estimates and manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously

  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building capabilities
