About the role
The Drug and Alcohol Team Leader is responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership to a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist alcohol and other drug services, including the MERIT (Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment) program. This role requires an experienced clinician with strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with health, community and justice stakeholders.
The successful applicant will oversee a team supporting clients experiencing alcohol and other drug-related concerns, many of whom are involved with the criminal justice system. They will be responsible for providing supervision, managing service delivery, ensuring clinical governance standards are met and supporting staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Working within a harm minimisation and trauma-informed framework, the Team Leader will ensure clients receive coordinated, person-centred care that addresses the health and social factors influencing substance use and offending behaviours. The role requires strong clinical knowledge, leadership experience, sound decision-making skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy and dynamic environment.
