Where you'll be working
Located at Redbank House on the Westmead Hospital campus, the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) is a newly established specialist inpatient service supporting parents and infants during the critical perinatal period. As part of Western Sydney Local Health District, you'll join a progressive team committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that helps parents recover while remaining with their babies in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Working alongside experienced mental health clinicians, you'll contribute to an innovative model of care that promotes recovery, strengthens parent-infant attachment and supports long-term wellbeing for families.

What you'll be doing
As the Senior Exercise Physiologist, you will deliver specialised clinical Exercise Physiology services to consumers admitted to the Mother and Baby Unit. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health team, you will provide evidence-based assessment, exercise prescription and therapeutic interventions that support both physical and mental health recovery throughout the perinatal period.
Complete comprehensive assessments, risk stratification and develop individualised exercise programs for consumers with complex mental health needs.
Deliver and evaluate individual and group exercise interventions that support recovery, wellbeing and self-management.
Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, allied health professionals and families to deliver coordinated, person-centred care.
Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care.
Drive continuous improvement through quality initiatives, research participation, outcome measurement and evidence-based practice.

Essential Requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Exercise and Sports Science or Exercise Physiology.
Registration: Eligibility for accreditation as an exercise physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
Selection Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science with eligibility for accreditation as an exercise physiologist with ESSA.
Evidence of extensive clinical experience as a Level 2 exercise physiology or equivalent.
A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for perinatal mental health consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral, and discharge planning.
Demonstrated proficiency in ability to work autonomously with limited supervision and ability to prioritise, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills, and have independent professional judgement.
Provide evidence of proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities, with skill in clinical practice alongside both novice and experienced health professionals and external service providers.
Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to initiate, lead, evaluate, and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation processes.
Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to learn and use a variety of health information systems.
