About the Role

The SLHD Holistic Early Intervention Team (HEIT) supports young people with or at risk of severe mental health needs presenting to headspace or other tertiary mental health service to support access and transitions between services. HEIT provides multidisciplinary mental health services to young people who can be adequately supported in a primary care setting and require a mix of specialties, multi-agency approaches and/or interventions to meet their care needs. The HEIT service provides support across the SLHD, divided into two distinct Sectors. This role is offered within the Camperdown, Marrickville and Redfern catchment areas and collocated with the Camperdown headspace.

As a Clinical Psychologist within this service, you will deliver evidenced based assessment, formulation and brief interventions to guide care and interventions for young people presenting to HEIT. You will support integrated care between the LHD and headspace, providing clinical expertise in youth mental health and consultation within the multidisciplinary teams. You will work in a trauma-informed, evidenced based and culturally informed framework to deliver high quality youth focused mental health support, interventions and contribute to service development.

This position is an enhancement to an existing youth enhanced service as offers a great opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to strengthen the youth services model offered within SLHD.

You will flourish in this role if you:

• Provide confident clinical care, supervision, and clinical consultations while balancing leadership responsibilities with an active clinical caseload.
• Have strong experience managing highrisk and complex mental health presentations in young people, with a traumainformed, culturally safe, recoveryoriented approach.
• Are skilled in various assessments, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, and risk management.
• Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and in partnership with headspace, families, GPs, and community services.
• Understand psychiatric medications, relevant legislation (including the NSW Mental Health Act 2007), and ethical practice standards.

Ideal Candidate

• Current AHPRA registration to practice as a psychologist, must hold a post graduate degree in clinical psychology (Masters, and/or Doctorate or PhD) that provides eligibility for full membership of the APS and ACPA.
• Extensive clinical experience in mental health and demonstrated advanced level practice and supervision skills.
• Understanding of and commitment to recovery oriented services for young people.
• Demonstrated advanced skills in the comprehensive assessment and management of young people with mental health problems.
