As the Senior Risk Lead, Finance you will play a key role in providing independent Line 2 oversight, advice, challenge and insight across the Finance Domain and the Fund's financial risk management environment. This is an opportunity to apply your risk expertise across key areas including third party, crediting rate, tax and valuation risks, while supporting informed decision-making through risk insights, reporting and constructive challenge.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations Advisory, this role provides independent assessment of the Finance Domain risk profile, including alignment with the AustralianSuper Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement. You will support strong risk management practices across the Fund through oversight, monitoring, reporting, advice and challenge.

Working as part of the Operational Risk team within Group Risk, you will partner closely with Finance stakeholders and risk teams to support effective risk identification, assessment, monitoring, controls, obligations and remediation activities. You will bring strong influencing and collaboration skills, along with the ability to translate complex risk matters into clear, practical advice.

Key duties include but are not limited to;

  • Act as a trusted advisor and business partner on financial management risk matters, particularly third party, crediting rate, tax and valuation risks.

  • Provide independent Line 2 analysis, insights and reporting on the adequacy of the Finance Domain risk profile, including whether risks are within appetite.

  • Establish and execute a risk-based Line 2 monitoring and oversight program across the Finance Domain.

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge of Finance Domain incidents, issues, control deficiencies and remediation activities.

  • Lead oversight, challenge and advice on third party risk management practices, including a risk-based third party monitoring program.

  • Analyse risk data to extract insights across risks, controls, incidents, obligations and third parties.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and support for regulatory engagements, audits, reviews and responses relating to financial risk management.

  • Support continuous improvement of financial management risk frameworks, policies, standards and procedures.

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years' experience in first and/or second line risk management, with a proven track record of success in similar roles.

  • Experience in a regulated industry, ideally financial services.

  • Postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.

  • Experience working in or leading reporting, financial and risk/governance functions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical recommendations.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.

  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
