Rio Tinto's Weipa operations in Far North Queensland are looking for a curious and commercially minded finance professional to join our high-performing Finance team.
We are seeking aSenior Adviser - Finance Business Partneringtoprovidetrusted financial advice, analysis and performance insights that support operational decision-making at site. Based in Weipa, this role works closely with operations and finance stakeholders to understand business performance, challenge assumptions constructively and help shape practical decisions that improve outcomes.
This is anindividual contributor role, with no direct people leadership responsibilities. Success in the role will come through your technical finance capability, strong business partnering and ability to influence outcomes through relationships,insightand advice.
The role is well suited to amid-career finance professionalwho has already built a strong technical foundation and is ready to broaden their impact through deeper stakeholder partnering, commercial influence and site leadership support.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the operation, is confident in their technical financeskillsand is ready to further develop their commercial partnering capability.

Reporting to theManager Financein Weipa, you will be:
Owningand supportingsite planning, forecasting, varianceanalysisand performance reporting, translating financial results into clear operational insights.
Interpretingmonthly,quarterlyand annual financial results,identifyingkey drivers,risksand opportunities for the assigned operational area.
Partneringwith operational stakeholders to understand cost performance, challenge assumptionsconstructivelyand support practical decisions that improve business outcomes.
Preparingbusiness analysis, project valuationsupportand financial modelling to helpvalidatebusiness opportunities and improvement initiatives.
Buildingtrusted relationships across site teams by providingtimely,reliableand commercially grounded finance advice.
Supportingthe uplift of financial acumen across the operation by explaining financial information in a clear,practicaland audience-appropriate way.
Workingwith global finance teams to improve systems, reporting,metricsand processes so they are fit for purpose and easy for the business to use.
Identifyingfinancial opportunities andinfluencingoutcomes through analysis, costleadershipand proactive engagement with the business.
Maintainingeffective reporting mechanisms that provide stakeholders with insightful andappropriate analysisof financial performance.
Contributingto matters with potentially significantfinancial impact, including economic and competitive trends, pricing, cash flow, product line evaluation and capital additions.
Whatyou'llbring
To be successfully considered for this role, we are looking for someone who has developed strong technical finance capability and is now looking to grow their impact through business partnering, stakeholder influence and commercial decision support. You will bring:
A bachelor's degree and/or professional qualification such as CA,CPAor progress toward a relevant professional qualification.
Demonstrated experience in management accounting, business analysis, planning,forecastingor performance reporting.
Strong Excel capability and confidence working with financial data,analysisand reporting tools.
Working knowledge of Power BI or similar reporting tools, with a willingness to continue building digital and analytical capability.
A solid technical finance foundation, with the ability to explain financial results,driversand assumptions in a clear and practical way.
The confidence to partner with stakeholders, ask constructivequestionsandprovidecommercially grounded advice.
A collaborative, team-orientedapproachand the ability to work across finance and operational teams to deliver priorities.
Curiosity and initiative toidentifyfinancial opportunities, improve ways ofworkingand support better business decisions.
Effective communication and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor financial information for different audiences.
