The Role

The Human Resources Business Partner - Australia is responsible for leading and delivering the full employee lifecycle across Australia, supporting the development, construction and operation of renewable energy projects including wind, solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

As a trusted advisor to leaders, you will partner closely with the Australia Management Team to build organisational capability, attract and retain exceptional talent, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and ensure the workforce is positioned to support the company's continued growth. You will be a key conduit between centres of functional expertise abroad and the Australian business.

This role combines strategic and operational responsibilities across workforce planning, talent acquisition, remuneration, organisational development, leadership coaching, learning and development, employee relations, culture, payroll governance and HR compliance.

Responsibilities

Strategic People Leadership

  • Develop and execute the People Strategy aligned to the company's Australian business objectives and growth plans.

  • Partner with senior leaders to identify workforce requirements across development, construction and operational phases of projects.

  • Provide strategic advice on organisational design, workforce capability, succession planning and talent risks.

  • Lead annual people planning processes including workforce forecasts, headcount planning and organisational capability reviews.

  • Utilise workforce data and analytics to support decision-making and identify emerging workforce trends.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Support global recruitment team with end-to-end recruitment in Australia.

  • Develop talent attraction strategies to secure renewable energy capability.

  • Build talent pipelines for critical positions and future projects.

  • Manage relationships with recruitment partners.

  • Oversee onboarding to ensure successful employee transitions.

  • Support workforce mobility and international recruitment where required.

Remuneration & Reward

  • With support from global centre of expertise, lead Australian remuneration review processes including salary benchmarking, market analysis and remuneration recommendations.

  • Maintain remuneration frameworks that support attraction, retention and internal equity.

  • Ensure compliance with legislative and governance requirements relating to remuneration

Leadership Development & Coaching

  • Coach leaders on people leadership, performance management, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.

  • Design and implement leadership development initiatives to strengthen leadership capability across the business.

  • Facilitate leadership workshops, team effectiveness sessions and culture initiatives.

  • Support leaders through organisational change, business transformation and growth.

Learning & Organisational Development

  • Develop and implement annual learning and capability plans.

  • Establish development pathways for technical, project and leadership roles.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Employee Relations & Performance

  • Provide expert advice on employment legislation, policies and workplace practices.

  • Manage employee relations matters including performance management, investigations and workplace grievances.

  • Support leaders in managing complex people issues while maintaining a positive employee experience.

  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, National Employment Standards and company policies.

  • Maintain and continuously improve HR policies and procedures.

Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing

  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and action planning.

  • Drive organisational culture programs aligned to company values.

  • Support diversity, equity and inclusion strategies.

  • Develop and oversee wellbeing, mental health and psychosocial safety initiatives.

  • Promote a high-performing, inclusive and psychologically safe workplace.

Payroll & HR Operations

  • Oversee payroll delivery through the company's external payroll provider.

  • Ensure payroll accuracy, governance and legislative compliance.

  • Ensure HR systems and employee records are kept up to date.

  • Produce regular HR reporting and workforce analytics for leadership.

Qualifications

  • Academic background in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related discipline with a strong people management focus.
  • Significant experience in a generalist HR Business Partner role within a fast-paced, commercial and delivery-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and executives.
  • Proven experience working with employee representative groups, unions and/or industrial relations matters within a complex organisational environment.
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting organisational growth, transformation and change initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering or resources sectors
  • Experience supporting high-growth organisations
  • Knowledge of project-based workforces and major project environments.
  • Experience with remuneration benchmarking and incentive design.
  • Coaching or leadership development qualifications.
