About Red Cross

Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement. We support and empower people and communities in times of vulnerability. We act for humanity.

About the role

As Executive Assistant to the South Australia State Director, you will provide high-level executive, administrative, project, and advisory support, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Director’s office. Your responsibilities will include managing complex schedules, coordinating travel and office activities, overseeing communications, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

This diverse and rewarding role offers opportunities to contribute beyond traditional executive support, drawing on your skills and interests in event and project management, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, networking, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Working closely with the South Australia Leadership Team, you will also provide governance and administrative support to the SA Divisional Council and Chair. As a trusted point of contact for the State Director, you will support operational planning, monitoring and reporting processes, while helping to deliver strategic engagement activities, communications, and events.

This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where no two days are the same. The role offers significant variety, allowing you to leverage a broad range of skills, build meaningful relationships, and make a real contribution to the humanitarian work of Australian Red Cross.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Proven experience in an Executive Assistant, Executive Support, or administrative management role, with the ability to provide high-level support in a fast-paced environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to work respectfully, effectively, and inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communities.
  • Outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to provide feedback, contribute ideas, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in project coordination, event management, and/or content development, with the ability to deliver quality outcomes and support strategic initiatives.
  • A positive, collaborative mindset and a genuine commitment to contributing to a high-performing leadership team and an inclusive, values-driven workplace culture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and the ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • A passion for supporting organisational success and helping leaders, teams, and stakeholders achieve shared goals.
