Reporting to the APAC Managing Director the Australia Country Head has overall responsibility for the Loans Agency and Trustee businesses in Australia. This role oversees the Middle Office, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and Client Services teams within the region, with direct management of their respective leaders.
The Australia Country Head holds full P&L responsibility for the Australian business and partners closely with senior management and Business Development to deliver financial performance and strategic growth.
As a member of the APAC Senior Leadership Team, the Australia Country Head will contribute to regional strategy and ensure strong alignment with global operations, fostering collaboration across key jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide executive leadership across the Australian platform
- Contribute to APAC-wide strategic planning and decision-making
- Drive collaboration with global Country Managers to ensure consistency and scalability
- Lead and execute change management and transformation initiatives
- Own recruitment for the Australian business within agreed P&L parameters, ensuring hiring decisions are aligned to budget, support sustainable financial performance, and maintain appropriate operational capability.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Own and manage the full P&L for the Australian business
- Partner with Finance on financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking
- Support and drive revenue growth through Business Development initiatives
- Identify and capitalise on new market and product opportunities
Operational Excellence
- Ensure efficient, scalable operations across Middle Office, DCM, and Client Services
- Oversee the execution and closing of new transactions within agreed timelines
- Maintain exceptional standards of client servicing, reporting, and payment accuracy
- Drive continuous improvement, process optimisation, and operational efficiency
Governance & Risk
- Participate in regular Business Review meetings and monitor KRIs
- Serve on key internal committees (Client Acceptance, Business Acceptance, Product Approval)
- Ensure adherence to risk frameworks, compliance obligations, and operating procedures
Client & Market Leadership
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, lenders, borrowers, law firms, and intermediaries
- Represent GLAS at industry forums and market events across Australia and APAC
- Act as a senior ambassador for the business in the local market
People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams across functions
- Ensure appropriate resourcing and workforce planning in line with growth
- Partner with HR on performance management, talent development, and succession planning
- Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned with GLAS values
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven senior leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong experience within institutional debt markets (loan agency, trustee, DCM or related)
- Knowledge of the Australian financial markets and regulatory environment
- Experience in P&L management is advantageous
- Demonstrated success in change management and business transformation
- Strong project management and organisational capabilities
- Familiarity with loan administration and payment systems
