Warrawong High School is a co-educational Year 7-12 inclusive high school with a strong focus on explicit teaching strategies and comprehensive wellbeing structures catering to a diverse and dynamic school community reflecting the cultural diversity of contemporary Australia.

Part of the Lake Ilawarra North network, the total student population of Warrawong High School in 2026 is 610, which includes 45% of students with a language background other than English representing 25 different nationalities, and 11% of students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Warrawong High School hosts the region's only Intensive English Centre and the Bayview Special Education Centre. To complement our inclusive and diverse school, we also host one of the region's first school-based permaculture and community gardens which supports and promotes sustainable living. The school is a founding partner school of the Illawarra Academy of STEM and involved in a social sports values football program with the Real Madrid Foundation.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Approval to teach Year 7-12 Mathematics and willingness to teach Mathematics Extension 1 and 2.
2. Capacity and ability to be a dynamic member of the school executive leadership team and lead initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and priorities.
3. Ability to develop a culture of high expectations, mentor staff with varied levels of experience and engage students within the Mathematics faculty.
4. Lead staff in the implementation of innovative future focused learning to improve educational outcomes for students from a range of diverse backgrounds.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
