Head Teacher Administration - Googong High School (Prov)
Googong High School will open to year 7 and 8 students in 2027. Situated in the Queanbeyan Network on Ngambri and Ngunnawal Country, the school serves a rapidly growing, highly engaged and aspirational community, with the potential for the school to expand to cater for approximately 2000 students.
The Head Teacher of Administration will be the founding member of our Student Matters (name pending) faculty. This faculty will take a holistic approach to supporting students, blending wellbeing, learning support and administration together as a large, collaborative team. Whilst this role is for Administration, the position will grow to encompass other key responsibilities in ensuring students and staff are supported as the school expands.
The Head Teacher Administration will commence in term 4 to support the challenging yet rewarding work of establishing a new school. During this time, the successful applicant will be involved in responsibilities such as establishing effective systems and processes to ensure the effective management of the school as well as supporting the executive in ensure that the school is ready to deliver a quality learning environment from the first day of term 1, 2027.
Googong High School is being designed around an exciting and innovative curriculum structure that is founded in Learning Sciences. As a new school with the opportunity to establish a dynamic and contemporary culture, the school is building a learning design that reflects a broad research base in effective and modern teaching practices. The Head Teacher Administration will play a unique role in establishing this vision, with a particular focus on how we can utilize contemporary and innovate administrative systems to maximise student learning time.
1. Capacity to develop, implement and maintain the operational practices required for a new and rapidly growing school, ensuring that the school's operational needs are met and focused on supporting teaching and learning.
2. Proven ability to think creatively and innovatively, with the potential to assist the development of a school curriculum design based on contemporary research as opposed to traditional models of schooling.
3. Exemplary personal, interpersonal and communication skills, with the proven ability to work effectively within a leadership team focused on shared practice.
4. Proven instructional leadership skills, with the capacity of developing the capacity of other staff to deliver quality teaching practice to all students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
