Hamilton Island Kindy has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Group Leader to join our dedicated team. Working with the youngest residents of Hamilton Island requires strong leadership, professionalism, flexibility, and a warm, positive nature to match our year-round sunshine.
This is a live on island role, leading a room within our supportive and community-focused early learning environment.

Your Role
As Group Leader, you will take responsibility for leading your room, delivering high-quality early learning programs, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will provide guidance and direction to your team while fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
Where you'll make an impact
Lead a room within the centre, overseeing daily operations and routines
Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging early learning programs
Ensure compliance with National Quality Standards and relevant regulations
Mentor and support Childcare Assistants within your room
Build strong relationships with children, families, and the wider island community
Foster children's development, confidence, and wellbeing
Oversee preparation and service of food and beverages as required
Maintain accurate documentation and observations in line with regulatory requirements
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
What we're looking for
You are a confident early childhood professional with proven leadership experience and a passion for delivering high-quality education and care. You lead by example, communicate effectively, and are committed to supporting children during their formative years.
To be successful, you will need:
Diploma in Children's Services - Essential
Current Children's First Aid Certificate, CPR and Asthma/Anaphylaxis
Minimum 2 years practical experience in the children's services industry
Demonstrated experience leading or acting in a responsible person or room leader capacity
Current Queensland Blue Card
Queensland Child Protection Certificate (InSafe Hands)
Red Nose Safe Sleep Certificate
Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
A genuine passion for early childhood education and care
