Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Metalcorp is looking for a Warehouse Team Member to join our Tamworth team. Metalcorp is a leading rural Australian steel distributor, supplying products built for the needs of regional life through our branches and stockists across Australia. At Metalcorp, you'll be part of a local team backed by the strength and support of BlueScope. You'll be supported to build your skills in a safe, positive environment where people work together, share knowledge and take pride in helping customers across regional Australia.

This is a hands-on role in a supportive local branch where you'll learn the day-to-day flow of warehouse operations, help prepare steel products for customers, and work with a team that looks out for each other. You don't need to have worked in steel before. If you enjoy practical work, take pride in doing things safely and accurately, and like being part of a team, we'll support you to build the skills you need.

This is a permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday, working a 38-hour week across our branch operating hours of 7am to 5pm. Start and finish times may vary across the week, so some flexibility is needed.

What Will You Do?

You'll be part of the team that keeps the branch running safely and smoothly. Your work is active, hands on, and involves working both indoors and outdoors, manual handling, and moving steel products safely with the right equipment and support. You'll also:

  • greet and support our valued customers
  • safely load and unload trucks and customer pickups
  • pick and pack steel products from stock to prepare customer orders
  • be paid to learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes
  • receive training and support to learn other processing equipment, including a bandsaw machine and a bender
  • work closely with your team to deliver accurate orders and good service
  • contribute to a safe workplace where people look out for themselves and each other

More About You

You may already have warehouse, forklift, customer service, retail, manufacturing, farming, logistics or hands-on work experience, or you may be looking to build a new career in operations. What matters most is your positive approach, reliability and willingness to learn. You'll bring:

  • a current forklift licence, or willingness to obtain one
  • a safety-first mindset and care for the wellbeing of yourself and others
  • good communication skills and the ability to work well with customers, teammates and independently when needed
  • attention to detail when picking, packing and preparing orders
  • the ability to stay organised and work well in an active environment
  • respect for others and a willingness to contribute to a supportive team culture
