Introduction to the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Product Sales to join our Sales and Services West business line.

The purpose of this role is to lead the Technical Product Sales team to drive profitable sales growth of the Material Transportation Business Line (MTBL) product offerings, including Chute Solutions, Conveyor Solutions & Hauling Solutions, within the Asia Pacific Market Area (MA).

This is a leadership position that reports directly to the VP, Sales and Service Australia West. It requires providing technical and commercial guidance to the Technical Product Sales team and is responsible for accurate sales forecasting for both reporting and operational purposes.

It requires strong stakeholder management skills and close collaboration with the Business Line team and associated Product Lines (PL). You will work closely with many stakeholders, including Site Account Managers, internal Sales and Customer Service, the Commercial team, and our clients.

What you'll do

  • Lead, direct and support the Technical Product Sales team to ensure that operational targets are achieved in line with the plan and strategy.

  • Performance manages underperformance and coach/mentor to guide the team to achieve desired behavioural and performance outcomes.

  • Ensure sales forecasting and records are maintained to a high standard and report on a monthly basis.

  • Be familiar with all products such as Chute Liners, Conveyor Belts & Components, Truck Bodies/Liners and value propositions

  • Have an intimate understanding of the marketplace expectations on product pricing, but understand 'value proposition selling' to maximise product margins

  • Acts as a conduit between the Customer and the Product Lines to drive and support 'Go to Market' strategies, sales campaigns (product specific) and close gaps in value chain offerings to consolidate with Metso's overall offering.

  • Identify and support development of LCS (Life Cycle Solutions) opportunities with MA's and Integrated Service Solutions (ISS) team to offer a commercially astute offering.

  • Support and develop value proposition/drivers/quantification with the PL team during the solutions and proposal phase in the sales process.

  • Regularly attend sales steering meetings with relevant SAMs (Site Account Managers).

  • Support customers with product know-how across Conveyor solutions, Chute solutions and Load & Haul Solutions.

  • Understand the market, competition and the industry best practices for the defined technology and ensure that the sales case is built accordingly.

  • Ensures compliance with sales process, proposal and risk management procedures in the cases.

  • Develops and manages a sales pipeline to include activities in the monthly OR forecast

  • Technical design input and support to the Regional Hub team to support sales opportunities.

  • Technical problem solving at the customer's place of application.

  • Engage with relevant product managers around available products and market feedback for product development across the product lines.

Who you are

Essential

  • Experience in mining, manufacturing, or service-related business.

  • Experience with sales/fronting customers. Developing and implementing business growth strategies.

  • Proficient with business systems including MS Suite, CRM (Salesforce), and Power BI (SAP experience a bonus).

  • Sound technical understanding of chutes/wear linings, conveyor systems and loading & hauling applications.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Good time management, planning and organisational abilities - the ability to work autonomously.

  • Strong communication skills, listening, oral and written with excellent interpersonal skills and exposure to an international working environment.

  • Ability to coach, motivate and develop people.

  • Ability to travel intrastate, interstate and overseas if required.

Desirable

  • Engineering Degree or relevant Trade qualification (Mechanical).

  • Account Management experience desirable.
