THE POSITION:
This position is required to provide maintenance assistance and labouring works within the Natural Areas Team and other areas across the City Landscapes portfolio as required.

    EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

    • Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
    • This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
    • In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
    • This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
      • Hepatitis B
    • This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity's Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
    • This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
    • This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures.
    • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testsing.
    • This position is located at time the Landscape Services Depot, Smollett St, Albury or Albury Depot, Wodonga Place, Albury, with visits to external sites/depots.

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • Class C drivers licence
    • Construction Induction Card
    • Traffic Control Work Training TCR/IMP or equivalent

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

    • Chainsaw Level 1
    • Various plant licences
    • AQF - 3 Chemical Handling Certificate equivalent
    • Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence

    EXPERIENCE

    • Relevant natural resource management and/or horticulture industry experience

    SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • A sound knowledge of small plant operation, revegetation techniques and herbicide application , garden labouring arboriculture,
    • Experience and demonstrated ability in operating various plant, which may include trucks (Medium Rigid Driver's Licence), tipping trucks, front end loaders and skid steer loaders
    • An understanding of WHS and competence in performing tasks in a safe manner
    • Fundamental literacy skills in receiving and executing instructions

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To assist in the development and maintenance of Natural Areas projects by providing knowledge and demonstrated skills in conservation and land management, and general site maintenance activities including revegetation, weed control, and mowing.
    • Assist in the mowing/maintenance of, natural areas, roadsides, parks and reserves.
    • Assist in maintenance and planting of revegetation areas.
    • Assist in construction activities associated with Wagirra projects as required
    • Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner.
    • Ensure all routine maintenance to plant and equipment is carried out.
    • Use relevant skills to assist other areas across the City Landscapes portfolio
    • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
    • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
