Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.

An opportunity has become available for Registered Nurses to join our Neonatal Special Care Nursery team casual pool. Our Special Care Nursery is a Level 3 service caring for neonates from 34 weeks gestation and step down from Neonatal Intensive Care Units as well as providing ongoing care for neonates transferring from Neonatal Intensive Care Units across the district and neighbouring Local Health Districts. Special Nursery is part of the Hawkesbury Maternity Services birthing over 700 babies each year.

As a Registered Nurse within our nursery, you will deliver evidence-based, family-centred care to neonates with a range of medical and developmental needs. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of nursing, medical and allied health professionals, you will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for babies and their families.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
  2. Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in special care nursery with the completion of a new graduate Registered Nurse program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
  4. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
  5. Demonstrated effective communications written and verbal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  7. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  8. Ability to work a flexible roster, day evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit or team requirements.
