An outstanding opportunity is available for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established public mental health service in Adelaide, working within a specialist forensic mental health community team.

About the Role
Working as part of the Forensic Mental Health Division, you will provide specialist psychiatric care to patients receiving services through the forensic mental health program.
You will work closely with Registrars, Resident Medical Officers, fellow Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical service delivery, multidisciplinary care planning, quality improvement and research activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and ongoing management within a forensic community setting.
- Managing a caseload of patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Working collaboratively with patients, families, carers and external agencies.
- Contributing to service development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Participating in research and other professional development activities.
- Supporting the delivery of effective, contemporary and evidence-based mental health services.
About You
You will be a highly capable Consultant Psychiatrist with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in complex and sometimes challenging environments.
You will ideally have:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Appropriate specialist qualifications in Psychiatry.
- Specialist registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Experience or a strong interest in forensic psychiatry and/or community mental health.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong skills in communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and managing complex conversations.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of clinical care.
- Demonstrated resilience and a commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
