We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our Employee Relations team. This role will be providing support across the broader Employee Relations function. About the Role The Employee Relations Advisor plays a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and consistent application of employment conditions across TheirCare, with a strong focus on payroll-related matters and award interpretation. Working closely with management, field staff, and payroll, this role provides practical advice on employee entitlements, including classifications, pay rates, penalties, allowances, and overtime, in line with relevant industrial instruments and legislation. The role supports the organisation by managing employee relations matters with a particular emphasis on identifying and mitigating payroll and compliance risks. This includes providing guidance on award interpretation, supporting the resolution of pay-related queries and discrepancies, and ensuring alignment with the Fair Work framework, applicable awards, and internal policies. The position manages a shared inbox, acting as a key point of contact for payroll and employment conditions queries, and operates within established frameworks while escalating complex, sensitive, or high-risk matters to the Employee Relations Manager as required. In this role, you will: Provide expert advice on award interpretation, including classifications, pay rates, penalty rates, overtime, allowances, and employment conditions in line with relevant industrial instruments and legislation Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate application of pay conditions, supporting the resolution of payroll queries, discrepancies, and backpay calculations Review and interpret modern awards (e.g. SCHADS, Clerks) and enterprise arrangements to ensure organisational compliance and consistency in application Support audits, reporting, and reviews of payroll practices to ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements Identify, assess, and mitigate payroll and compliance risks, including potential underpayments, and support remediation activities where requireD Provide timely, practical guidance to leaders on employment conditions, pay-related matters, and compliance obligations to support informed decision-making Manage and respond to ER Helpdesk queries, with a strong focus on payroll, award, and employment conditions advice Coordinate and manage employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, and performance concerns, ensuring procedural fairness and compliance Support investigations where matters have payroll or award implications, ensuring outcomes are aligned with legislative requirements Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and resources relating to payroll compliance and employment conditions Build leader capability through coaching and education on award interpretation, pay obligations, and risk areas Provide accurate and consistent award interpretation advice, with a high level of first-response accuracy and minimal rework or escalation required Respond to and resolve ER Helpdesk and payroll-related queries within agreed service levels, delivering timely and practical guidance to leaders and employees Identify, assess, and resolve payroll discrepancies and compliance risks, including coordination of backpay and remediation activities where required Support payroll compliance through audits, process improvements, and maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring minimal findings and ongoing alignment with legislative requirements About You You will be an experienced HR professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and build on their leadership capabilities. You will bring: The ideal candidate for the Employee Relations Advisor role will have the following: Tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline (highly regarded) or equivalent work experience. 1-2 years' experience working in HR environments, with a genuine interest in pursuing a career pathway in an industrial relations specialty. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience using HRIS or workforce management systems. Experience with Humanforce HR is advantageous.
