As a Highways Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of major road and pavement projects across urban, rural and developing environments. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide innovative engineering solutions and high-quality consulting services that support the successful delivery of Arup's highways portfolio. You will contribute technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle while building strong client relationships and delivering sustainable infrastructure outcomes.
The Opportunity
- Deliver investigation, design, analysis and modelling for small to medium-sized highway projects, while contributing to the successful delivery of larger multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical engineering and consulting services across road design, pavement engineering, stormwater drainage and water-sensitive road design.
- Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including engineering reports, cost estimates, tender submissions, project schedules and other project deliverables.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, government agencies and multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery and represent Arup in project meetings.
- Maintain quality management standards, review engineering deliverables for accuracy, and support the development of junior engineers through mentoring, guidance and knowledge sharing.

Is this role right for you?
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, with progress towards Chartered membership with Engineers Australia or an equivalent professional institution.
- Proven experience in highways engineering, with strong knowledge of Austroads guidelines, Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) standards and current industry practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in road and pavement design, together with an understanding of development approvals, Safety in Design principles and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within project deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a collaborative approach to building strong relationships with clients, colleagues and project stakeholders.

The role is based within our stunning, award-winning, architecturally designed offices in the heart of the Perth CBD housed within WS2. Spanning three levels, it is a bright open plan working environment with a lower social break-out space, kitchen, winter garden and luxury end-of-trip facilities, through to the top level's innovative 'Excellence Nest', makerspace and acoustics lab.
You will be joining a growing team of highly skilled and engaged engineers, working in a Total Design, multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with a broad range of teams and specialists, providing you the opportunity to develop and enhance your technical skills across the full breadth of civil engineering disciplines.
