About the Role

As the Senior Manager, Internal Audit, you will lead the University's Internal Audit function within the Risk, Compliance and Assurance Unit (RCAU). Reporting to the Director, Risk, Compliance and Assurance, you will provide independent assurance to Executive leadership and the Audit and Risk Committee, helping to strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls across the University. You will deliver risk-based audit and assurance activities, investigations and control reviews that support effective decision-making, operational excellence and compliance. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will provide trusted advice and help drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and strong governance.

About the Team

The Risk, Compliance and Assurance Unit (RCAU) within the Legal, Assurance and Integrity Division plays a critical role in supporting the University's strategic objectives through internal audit, risk management, compliance, integrity and governance activities. The team works closely with leaders across UOW to strengthen organisational accountability, manage risk, and support informed decision-making in an increasingly complex environment. What You'll Bring

You are a strategic and analytical professional with significant experience in internal audit, assurance, investigations or risk-related disciplines within a complex environment. You bring a strong understanding of governance and risk management, are confident engaging with senior stakeholders, and are passionate about improving organisational performance through effective assurance practices.

Essential Experience and Skills

• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering contemporary, risk-based internal audit programs, plans and assurance activities aligned with organisational priorities.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Experience engaging with senior executives, Audit and Risk Committees, and other key stakeholders.
• Experience preparing high-quality audit reports and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
• Experience managing co-sourced audit providers and/or specialist assurance engagements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse organisation.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
• The ability to influence, challenge constructively and communicate complex information in a clear and practical way.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, Law, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification such as CA, CPA, CIA, CISA or equivalent, or demonstrated progress towards obtaining one

• Employment type: Permanent/Continuing
• Level 8/9: $123,283 - $152,959 + 17% Superannuation.
• Location: Wollongong Campus / Hybrid
