Maryborough District Health Service is located in the central goldfields shire in the historical town of Maryborough, Victoria. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Educator to join our dedicated team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality clinical education across our health service. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for supporting the professional development of students, graduates, and staff, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice. Key responsibilities of the position include: Acting as an educational resource for students, graduates, and staff Assisting with the orientation of new students, graduates, and staff to clinical areas Providing clinical assistance and support to all students, graduates, and staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care Utilising practice opportunities to lead innovative clinical learning activities and identifying opportunities to review and teach evidence-based best practice to improve the quality and safety of health care delivery Contributing to the evaluation of current practice by participating in clinical audits and other quality activities Maintaining expertise and currency with health care research, trends, and nursing practice Encouraging an active learning environment in which mandatory competency requirements are maintained and improved, consistent with current nursing knowledge and research In consultation with relevant managers, the Transition to Practice and Further Education Coordinator, and other educators, overseeing and documenting staff, graduate, and student progress and, if required, developing and delivering learning plans to address sub-optimal performance Liaising with education providers, where required, to address unsatisfactory behaviour or performance of students Reviewing and completing students' and graduates' formative and summative assessments, skill-based competencies, and associated documentation Accepting accountability and responsibility for their own actions within their defined scope of practice Key Selection Criteria Essential Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Minimum of five (5) years' post-graduate nursing experience Demonstrated experience in a clinical supervision or preceptor role A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification (highly desirable), or a willingness to obtain the same Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certificate Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and experience across one or more specialities, including acute care (bed-based clinical care, Urgent Care, Theatre) and/or aged care (residential, TCP) Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards, including the Code of Conduct, Standards for Practice, and scope of practice for nurses and midwives Demonstrated knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the Aged Care Quality Standards Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development to ensure practice remains within current scope Demonstrated ability to create a positive learning and reflective practice environment for learners at all levels Desirable Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional team, identifying opportunities to advance the quality of education provided Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment for learners at all levels Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including the capacity to problem-solve and adapt effectively within a dynamic and changing environment Related documents Clinical Nurse Educator - July 2026 Published on 23 Jul 2026, 5:01 AM
