Senior Associate - Local Government (12 month contract)

We're seeking a motivated and commercially minded Senior Associate to join our Local Government, Education and Governance team on a 12-month maximum term contract. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects that influence the long-term financial sustainability, governance and operational performance of public sector organisations across Queensland.
The opportunity
You will work with a diverse range of clients including local governments, education institutions and state government agencies, supporting projects that address real-world challenges and improve the social and economic wellbeing of Queensland communities.
Working closely with Directors and senior stakeholders, you will contribute to engagements across areas such as:
- Financial sustainability and performance improvement
- Infrastructure and asset management
- Strategic governance and decision-making
- Business cases and feasibility assessments
- Risk management and organisational improvement
- Data analysis, modelling and evidence-based insights
- Capability uplift and change initiatives
No two projects are the same. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple sectors while developing your advisory, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
What you'll bring
We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with a genuine interest in helping clients solve complex problems.
You will likely have:
- At least five years' professional experience in consulting, local government, finance, infrastructure, governance, economics, public sector advisory or a related field
- Experience working within or alongside local government, particularly in financial management, risk management, asset management or governance
- Strong financial modelling, data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Experience preparing business cases, feasibility studies or strategic recommendations
- Exceptional written communication and report-writing skills
- Confidence facilitating discussions and building trusted stakeholder relationships
- A collaborative and curious mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, business, accounting, law, engineering, mathematics or a related discipline
