Maintenance Officer

The Opportunity

Forest Grove Retirement Living is a well-established community, nestled amongst 34 hectares of greenery and has a range of sought-after amenities including walking paths, a duck pond, tennis court, swimming pools, bowling green and much more. Joining our team as a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community, ensuring that homes and shared spaces are safe, functional, and well presented. You’ll complete a range of maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday 8-4pm.

Your Impact

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements
• Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers
• Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
• Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
• Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
• Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
• Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)

Whatyou'llbring

• Experience in a general maintenance or tradebased role, including handson handyperson tasks
• A proactive, solutionsfocused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
• An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a residentfriendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
• A valid driver’s licence (essential)
• Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
