The opportunity
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Requirements Engineer to support a major program delivering secure, integrated technology capabilities.
The successful candidate will plan and lead requirements activities across several projects of varying size and complexity. You will work with business users, senior stakeholders, architects, engineers, developers and testers to ensure requirements are complete, traceable, prioritised, feasible and testable.
The role requires someone who can operate effectively within a highly secure environment and manage complex stakeholder priorities with discretion and sound judgement.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and lead end-to-end requirements activities for large and complex initiatives.
- Define project scope, boundaries and objectives.
- Elicit, analyse, document, validate and manage business and system requirements.
- Facilitate requirements workshops involving business and technical stakeholders.
- Prioritise requirements according to business value, risk and dependencies.
- Negotiate competing priorities, trade-offs and conflicting requirements.
- Obtain formal stakeholder agreement and sign-off.
- Establish and maintain requirements baselines.
- Maintain requirements traceability and version control.
- Assess the impact of changes on scope, cost, schedule and solution design.
- Govern requirements through structured change-management processes.
- Contribute to organisational requirements frameworks, standards and reusable templates.
Essential requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading requirements engineering for large and complex ICT initiatives.
- Strong experience eliciting and managing both business and system requirements.
- Ability to engage and negotiate with diverse senior, business and technical stakeholders.
- Experience establishing requirements baselines and traceability.
- Experience assessing and managing requirements changes and their downstream impacts.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Capability aligned with SFIA Requirements Definition and Management - REQM Level 5.
- Australian citizenship.
- A current TSPV clearance, or a TSPV clearance held within the previous 12 months and subsequently downgraded.
A current Defence Intelligence Agency-recognised Psychological Assessment is preferred but not essential.
