This structured 12-week paid vacation program provides invaluable exposure to site-based mining operations, allowing you to apply your studies in a practical environment while working alongside experienced industry professionals.
You'll gain hands-on experience, develop your technical capabilities, and build valuable industry connections, all while discovering what a future career with Whitehaven could look like.
Program Highlights

What You'll Do
As a Vacation Student in Surveying, you'll work closely with our site surveying team and gain exposure to a broad range of activities that support safe and efficient mining operations. You will:
- Assist with mine surveying activities and data collection
- Gain practical experience using surveying equipment, software and mine planning systems
- Support surveyors with field work and operational projects
- Learn how survey data contributes to mine design, production and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists and operational teams across site
- Develop an understanding of mining operations, safety systems and industry best practice
- Build practical skills in communication, teamwork and problem-solving
- Contribute to projects that support operational performance and continuous improvement
What You'll Bring

- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Surveying, Spatial Science, Geospatial Engineering or a related discipline
