Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school close to Canberra with an enrolment that has varied around 580 in 2026 with 11% Aboriginal students. The school benefits from strong community relationships and is committed to a personalised success pathway for every student.

Yass High School is proud of the inclusivity of our programs and facilities. Our students benefit from a broad curriculum that provides post-school opportunities in academic, technological, vocational and creative fields. The school has new building infrastructure including a STEM building (2021) and a new school hall (2023) promoting 21st century learning technologies.

All students at Yass High School learn and are encouraged by well-qualified, experienced teachers who work collaboratively to ensure dynamic course delivery and enriched learning. We have a Trade Centre for vocational courses such as Metals, Timber and Hospitality which is a popular career direction for many students. Our Agriculture farm enables students to learn the skills relating to animal management and horticulture, both very appropriate to our rural setting. Our growing Support Unit includes three Learning Hub classes and a SLC (Supported Learning Centre). Yass High School also has a stage 5 pathways programs to support students to transition to the workforce.

1. Demonstrated capacity to lead the CAPA faculty to deliver high quality, evidence informed and inclusive teaching and learning programs that build engagement, support high expectations and meet individual needs of students.

2. Proven ability to lead and manage a team with diverse teaching experience, demonstrating capacity to collaboratively engage and inspire teachers to adopt innovative pedagogy and to inspire the potential of all students.
3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the executive team to drive continuous improvement and strategically lead the school towards excellence across all domains of the School Excellence Framework.
4. Proven experience in leading inclusive community engagement initiatives and extracurricular events that showcase student interest and talent and leverage creativity to foster positive relationships between the school and the broader community.
