This is an opportunity to join a specialist, traumainformed Sexual Assault Service as a Level 3 Sexual Assault Counsellor, providing compassionate, evidencebased support to children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual violence. The role works directly with victimsurvivors at critical points in their recovery, delivering counselling, crisis intervention and therapeutic support that prioritises safety, choice and empowerment.As a Level 3 Counsellor, you will provide clientcentred, strengthsbased interventions within a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals across diverse backgrounds and stages of healing. The role contributes to both immediate and longerterm recovery outcomes, while upholding best practice, ethical standards and culturally responsive care.

You will be an experienced counselor who brings empathy and professionalism, while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

  • Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  • Qualifications - Either a Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas) or Bachelor degree in Health related field with an emphasis on human behaviour, psychosocial development and counselling.
  • Describe your understanding of traumainformed, survivorcentred practice when working with people who have experienced sexual assault. In your response, outline how you would engage a client safely and respectfully, maintain professional boundaries, and work within your scope of practice while contributing to their recovery
  • This role works within a multidisciplinary Sexual Assault Service supporting clients with complex needs. Provide an example of how you have worked collaboratively with colleagues and/or external services, while managing documentation, confidentiality and selfcare in emotionally demanding work.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
