The Role

Our teachers are responsible for delivering a flexible and innovative learning program to facilitate transitional education of young people who have struggled in mainstream education. Teachers will have sound knowledge and understanding of health, physical, and psychological disabilities in students and their impact on engagement and learning. You will work within a small class size with additional support to deliver a differentiated program through explicit instruction, small group activities and one-on-one support.

You will be responsible for teaching groups of students from Years 7 - 12 across a broad curriculum that emphasises literacy and numeracy development and life skills. In the older years, the inclusion of VET courses assists in developing those transitional skills.

This is a permanent full-time position working 76 hours a fortnight, and is located in Kenwick.

About You

You bring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and are passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning spaces. You will bring experience from either Primary or Secondary school environments and work well with education supports to provide the best support to students.

Additionally, you will have:

• Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia

• A teaching qualification at AQF Level 7 or higher.

• Proficient to the prescribed standard in English, both oral and written

• Demonstrated administration skills including report writing, program development and maintaining student files

• Proven excellent positive classroom behaviour management

• Ability to effectively work as part of a team and excellent communication skills

• Current Senior First Aid certificate (or willing to obtain)

• Unrestricted drivers' licence, Satisfactory Police clearance, Current working with children check card

• Full Australian working rights

Communicare Academy is an independent, non-government CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) school operated by Communicare. We are committed to providing at-risk and disengaged young people with high quality education options in a flexible and supportive learning environment.
