About the Opportunity-
Join the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital After Hours team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 - After Hours Clinical Support and play a vital role in supporting staff and responding to clinical emergencies across the hospital.
Working after hours, you'll provide advanced clinical support, leadership and expert decision-making to nursing and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safe, timely and high-quality care when senior clinical support is needed most. You'll respond to deteriorating patients, cardiac arrests and medical emergencies, assisting Team Leaders with advanced life support, defibrillation, emergency medication administration and airway, breathing and circulation management.
This autonomous and highly respected role requires advanced clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and the confidence to lead and support staff in complex situations. You'll also mentor nurses, promote evidence-based practice and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, safety and clinical excellence.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 qualifications with relevant postgraduate qualifications and at least three years' experience in an acute specialty.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS2) certification with demonstrated competence in emergency response, including defibrillation, emergency medications and advanced assessment of airway, breathing and circulation.
• Demonstrated experience managing deteriorating patients and supporting Team Leaders during medical emergencies and cardiac arrests.
• Advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced acute hospital environment.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and communication skills with the ability to support and educate nursing staff while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality improvement and ongoing professional development.

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will:

• Demonstrate advanced clinical assessment, decision-making and consultation skills.
• Have the ability to support clinicians through virtual care platforms and complex patient flow processes.
• Be confident coordinating interfacility transfers and navigating competing clinical priorities.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Be committed to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and service development.
• Thrive in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment and contribute to education, mentoring and capability building across the District.

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
• Have minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience, including at least 3 years recent experience within a critical care environment.
• Completion of a Graduate Nurse Program or equivalent
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong commitment to person-centred care, cultural safety, and ongoing professional development.
