The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Anaesthetic Trainee. You will be part of a supportive, collegiate department, consisting of 40 VMO Specialists and 14 Registrars. You will have opportunity to both work under supervision and run your own lists, supervising juniors. There will be the opportunity to consolidate your anaesthesia practice across the spectrum, as well as pursuing special interests. Opportunities exist to be part of ongoing research and quality projects.

The anaesthetic trainee provides anaesthetic services to all surgical and procedural specialties operating at NNSWLHD Hospitals, including preoperative assessment and consultation. Anaesthetic staff provide an acute pain service to patients in the hospitals, in addition to support for resuscitation, after hours onsite service for the ICU and wards.
When rostered in the capacity of the overnight Night Trainee the anaesthetic trainee will be the most senior anaesthetics medical officer rostered on site overnight at NNSWLHD Hospitals, with the responsibility for providing initial anaesthetic care to patients across the hospital.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role (please address these in your response).
- Demonstrated ability to work with appropriate independence, commensurate with a level of a Specialist Trainee, within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Advanced ability to remain calm and act constructively when faced with high pressure situations or unpredictable environments.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
