The 0.2FTE Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Provisional Fellow position is available for the 2027 Clinical Year, from 01 February 2027 to 06 February 2028. The RCH Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Development Group develops and maintains CPGs on behalf of the Paediatric Improvement Collaborative (PIC). The PIC is a partnership between all states and territories. RCH is contracted as the host organisation to produce evidence based guidelines.
The CPGs provide concise practical advice regarding assessment and management of common and serious paediatric conditions. They are developed by a multidisciplinary team of practising clinicians, based on the available evidence and consensus, to assist clinicians with decisions about appropriate healthcare for children and young people. The development of new CPGs and the review of existing CPGs is generally determined by the CPG Development Group and may be requested/suggested by State Health Departments or other bodies. The PIC Steering Committee provides governance to ensure the process for development and revision of CPGs is robust and responsive.
The role of the CPG Fellow is to closely align with the CPG Development Group and to be directly involved in the development, review and maintenance of CPGs. This includes assisting CPG authors and preparing, running and documenting CPG Committee meetings. The Fellow will work independently and as part of the group. There is a strong focus on reviewing the literature and existing guidelines before writing and revising CPGs. The approved CPG process must be followed within agreed timelines.

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent.
- Demonstrated prior experience in audits and/ or systematic reviews. Prior experience in guideline development is preferable.
- Highly developed analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership skills - please provide an examples.
- Proven ability to organise, plan and manage competing tasks. Please provide an example.
- Excellent professionalism and work ethic.
