What you'll be doing
The St. Vincent's Hospital haematology department is a well-recognised referral centre for myeloma and plasma cell disorders and participates in numerous myeloma trials include myeloma CAR-T trials. We also provide specialist amyloidosis care as part of the St Vincent's Hospital Cardiac Amyloidsois Clinic.
The Zamasa Foundation is a charitable foundation whose sole focus is the advancement of immunotherapy research into Multiple Myeloma, with the fellow position established at St Vincent's in 2018.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:
Provision of clinical services to patients with Multiple Myeloma and other plasma cell dyscrasias in the outpatients (and inpatient) setting.
Conducting regular clinics for myeloma patients in the Kinghorn Cancer Centre and contributing to a database of all myeloma patients in the unit.
Involvement in the clinical trials unit - recruit, consent and follow up patients in BMT and cellular therapy clinical trials.
Assist in maintenance of quality accreditation for local and international registries.
Assume a leadership role, specifically in terms of leading and mentoring junior staff and advanced trainees, and participating in hospital-wide teaching and education.
Involvement in clinical/laboratory research projects for presentation at local or international meetings.
Assistance with ward or registrar cover during periods of leave.
Travel alongside a haematology consultant to attend a rural/regional clinic once every 2-3 months.
4 separate weeks of first on call haematology advice after hours over the course of the year. No other regular afterhours/overtime haematology roster commitments (although opportunities available on request).

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Successful or near completion of Haematology Advanced training with FRACP and FRCPA or equivalent. If not yet completed, must be enrolled in RACP +/- RCPA haematology advanced training or equivalent.
- Completion of at least five(5) years full time postgraduate experience
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, good time management skills and capacity for self-directed learning.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project (For example research, quality assurance) & demonstrated ability in basic research skills; literature review; critical thinking; data collection; data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal & communication skills and capacity to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Mission and Values of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
