Marketing Technology Manager
The role / impact
As a Marketing Technology Manager, you will act as the internal Product Manager for our marketing technology stack, taking direct ownership of our core data pipelines, Salesforce ecosystem, and conversion event systems. This is not a role for someone who has always sat above the technical layer. We are looking for someone who has personally built systems, written requirements when there was no engineer available, and developed product instincts because they first understood the problem from the inside.
Your daily work focuses on configuring, delivering, and integrating SaaS applications to drive measurable return on investment and deliver hyper-personalised marketing at scale. By partnering with performance marketing, data engineering, and sales teams, you will make high-impact technical choices that improve audience targeting, enhance media performance visibility, and offer clear exposure to executive leadership.
The team / how they connect
The Marketing Technology team sits under Performance Marketing, operating as a high-velocity internal product and engineering function that owns our global tech stack. The team brings together artificial intelligence workflow development specialists and engineering pods who collaborate seamlessly across regions to build automated campaigns, lead-routing systems, and data-sharing pipelines. You will report directly to the VP of Marketing Technology, working alongside top-performing peers in an environment defined by accountability, shared learning, and a passion for engineering excellence.
The team is currently working on / initially, you will focus on
Directing engineering workflows using comprehensive product requirement documents to build robust lead architecture and routing rules within Salesforce via LeanData.
Expanding our Segment customer data platform, utilising personas to deliver complex user journeys, audiences, and an automated data layer connected to Clay, Unify, and Tray.
Launching flagship artificial intelligence initiatives, including our sales development representative automation project, by uniting data pipelines and large language model tooling.
Partnering with data analytics to instrument data-sharing pipelines like conversion APIs and identifier uploads to continuously improve bidding quality on third-party ad platforms.
Where and how you can work
We offer a flexible, collaborative work environment that prioritises digital connection and cross-functional alignment. Our team works effectively across global regions, utilising regular virtual synchronisations and team check-ins to stay aligned on global initiatives without any rigid office attendance mandates.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
You have personally built, configured, or shipped technical systems like data pipelines, CRM integrations, conversion tracking infrastructure, or automation workflows. It's important that you have not just directed others to build them. Your strongest examples involve doing the work in a scrappy, entrepreneurial way, and your limits come from not having the full ability to code everything alone.
You have been the person who figured it out when there was no engineer to hand it to. That experience is what shaped how you think about technical problems and how you direct engineering work today.
You are the kind of person who builds things in your own time because the problem interests you. This can a pipeline, an automation, an LLM integration, a script that solved something you kept doing manually. Curiosity about technology is how you operate.
Your background includes experience in marketing technology, sales operations, revenue operations, or technical product management, with a hands-on understanding of Salesforce and its integration capabilities.
You bring a proven ability to manage technical roadmaps, set feature priorities, and make high-ROI decisions that guide engineering teams toward impactful solutions.
You have a strong understanding of data flows, SaaS integrations, and modern tools like Segment, Braze, Google Ads, or DBT.
You have a genuine interest in exploring and applying artificial intelligence and large language model tools within a marketing or product context and ideally examples of having already done so.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are part of your toolkit, making you comfortable presenting complex technical concepts to executive leaders.
This role is best suited to someone whose career has been shaped by building things technically first and strategising second. If you have always worked alongside technical teams rather than rolling up your sleeves yourself, this role may not be the best fit for you.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
