Technology Executive Downstream
Is this you?
This is not a role for someone looking to manage a platform, optimise a process or work within well-defined boundaries. It is for someone who is curious, unconventional and intellectually restless.
You are energised by complexity. You see connections where others see silos and are equally comfortable discussing AI, data, technology, risk, economics and business strategy in the same conversation. You are drawn to problems without obvious answers and believe the most meaningful opportunities exist where disciplines collide.
If you want predictable work, established playbooks and clearly defined paths, this probably is not the team for you. If you want to help shape how one of Australia's largest institutions thinks, reasons and makes decisions in the age of AI, we would love to meet you.
What's the role?
As the Technology Executive / Chief Product Owner - Downstream, you will play a strategic leadership role in identifying the highest-value opportunities where Data, AI and Technology can transform business outcomes across Westpac.
You will maintain a deep understanding of the Downstream landscape and shape the portfolio of work that delivers the greatest impact across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Financial Crime and Fraud. Unlike a traditional product owner, this role operates at enterprise scale, connecting business strategy, emerging technology and organisational priorities to ensure the team is focused on solving the most important problems, not simply delivering projects.
This role can be based in Sydney or the Gold Coast.
What do I need?
- Strong experience operating in senior product, portfolio, strategy or technology leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience shaping and prioritising high-value opportunities across complex domains.
- Ability to connect business strategy, product thinking, technology capability and customer needs into a clear roadmap.
- Experience working with executive stakeholders and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of Data, AI and Technology, with the ability to apply this in a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience working across regulated environments, with financial services experience a must.
- Ability to challenge assumptions respectfully, think from first principles and operate comfortably in ambiguity.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
