Evidence based and trauma informed model of care Your Opportunity The Night Residential Care Supervisor will provide supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to a team of Residential Care Workers across the region to ensure a high quality, therapeutically focused care. In addition, the Night Residential Care Supervisor will attend to and respond to queries, incidents and concerns from staff in a prompt manner. This role plays a vital part in ensuring overnight safety plans for young people in out of home care are met and will be based on-site from the houses. Further to the Residential Care program, this position is also a key contact to respond to regional incidents in the broader Out of Home Care space. Gippsland Region, on Gunaikurnai Country Homes located in Morwell and Traralgon areas Part time (70hrs), Permanent role Hourly rate of $49 p/h + penalties +salary packaging 2 day face-to-face Orientation Training is mandatory for the successful candidate: Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th August Key Responsibilities Manage the nightly operations of the Residential Care homes. Provide leadership and supervision to Residential Care Workers. Comply with reporting requirements for program components. Administration and accountability of annual budgets and program planning. Embedding a therapeutic framework by overseeing best practice implementation of Children and Young People's individual case management plans and fostering an outcomes-focused team. Develop and assist with house rosters. Requirements The successful applicant will hold a minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a relevant qualification (Youth Work, Community Services or Alcohol & Other Drugs fields) as well as previous industry experience - https://fac.dffh.vic.gov.au/news/reminder-funded-organisations-residential-care-staff-qualifications-certificate-iv-child-youth Applicants must also complete the Trauma Informed Practice and Upskilling modules as required by Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Continuing employment is dependent on satisfactory evidence provided within 6 months of being engaged in the role. Our team will support you with your enrolment with our partner TAFE, Melbourne Polytechnic. A driver's license (minimum green P's) is essential for transporting young people. Night Supervisor roster: Part-time 70hrs per fortnight Week 1 Monday: 8pm to 6am Tuesday: 8pm to 6am Wednesday: OFF Thursday: OFF Friday: OFF Saturday: OFF Sunday: OFF Week 2 Monday: 8pm to 6am Tuesday: 8pm to 6am Wednesday: OFF Thursday: OFF Friday: 8pm to 6am Saturday: 8pm to 6am Sunday: 8pm to 6am About You We are looking for an empathetic and resilient leader who brings a trauma-informed, culturally respectful approach to their work. They are calm under pressure, open-minded, and committed to providing safe, stable, and high-quality care to children and young people. With strong communication and crisis management skills, they lead by example-supporting staff, fostering a sense of safety and belonging, and ensuring every young person feels seen, heard, and valued. Experience in supervising staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to respond promptly to staff queries and incidents. Ability to de-escalate situations and provide on-site support during incidents. Skilled in maintaining records, managing house expenditure, and coordinating staff schedules. Capacity to engage with children and young people, and collaborate with external agencies (e.g., DFFH, Police, Mental Health services). Willingness and ability to learn about child development, trauma impacts, and relevant legislation and policy.
