THE POSITION:
The position is responsible for supervising a small team who are responsible for on ground works associated with AlburyCity's Natural Areas network. The position will oversee the protection, restoration and maintenance of natural areas, reserves and landscapes and land management projects.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
- This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed with your supervisor.
- This position will be required to be on call outside normal working hours on occasions. This will be in agreement with the supervisor and will attract the appropriate allowance.
- In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance.
- This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
- Hepatitis B
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity's Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
- This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures.
- This position is located at the Albury City Wagirra Depot 2244 Riverina Highway, Albury with regular visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- TAFE or Tertiary Qualifications in Conservation and Land Management or Environmental Management and/or extensive relevant industry experience
- AQF - 3 Chemical Handling Certificate or equivalent
- Class C (Standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Construction Induction Card
- Basic Wildfire Awareness or Prescribed Burning Competency
- 4WD and Off-Road Driving Certificate
- Traffic Control Card or Traffic Control Work Training Card
- Relevant qualifications in supervisor/leadership
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated industry experience with natural area management and weed control practices including an in-depth knowledge of associated machinery operation and management principles.
- Relevant experience in a supervisory position
- Ability to use small hand power tools

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Undertake all employee management activities relevant to the role, including recruitment, performance management and reviews, employee development, disciplinary action, rostering and timesheets, as well as ensuring a high level of employee motivation and team harmony.
- Coordinate the maintenance and enhancement of Albury's Natural Areas across reserves, parks and landscape areas.
- Assist with the inspection, monitoring and control of weed and pest species on land within AlburyCity boundaries.
- Assist in preparing designs for the maintenance, protection and rehabilitation of natural areas.
- Coordinate fire and fuel load management as required across Natural Areas.
- Respond to applications for and the issuing of Temporary Access Permits across AlburyCity Natural Areas.
- Provide advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of natural area management in an informed and professional manner.
- Maintain a current knowledge of weed and pest species and control techniques.
- Draft correspondence, reports, notices or orders in accordance with delegated authorities.
- Engage and manage contractors and supervise volunteers in weed and pest control, and natural area maintenance and rehabilitation tasks.
- Monitor and report on financial performance and assist in business plan and budget preparation.
- Prepare reports and submissions including grant submissions relating to projects.
- Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner and ensure all routine maintenance is carried out.
- Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, policies, regulations and all legislative requirements are followed.
- Respond appropriately to customer requests and complaints in accordance with AlburyCity's Customer Experience Charter.
- Improve efficiency through the implementation of a continuous improvement approach.
- Be available as required for emergency situations.
- Use skills to assist other areas of Albury City as necessary.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
