About the Role

As a Technical Officer you will contribute to the delivery of technical services across research facilities within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH). Working as part of a dedicated technical services team you will partner with researchers and research students to help ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of research laboratories and facilities.

• Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the operation and maintenance of research facilities and equipment
• Assisting researchers and research students with technical requirements
• Managing laboratory consumables and resources
• Promoting safe work practices and compliance with work health and safety requirements

The Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH) comprises of the Schools of Science; Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences; Nursing; Psychology and the Graduate School of Medicine. With such a diverse science and health focus, SMAH is positioned to be a major force in connected and science-embedded education and translational science, medical and health research in Australia.

• Permanent/Continuing | Full-time appointment
• Level 5 | $85,682 - $96,898 + 17% Superannuation

• Location: Wollongong Campus
• Valid Australian work rights required. Visa sponsorship is not available

Special Job Requirements

• This position is not suitable for remote working arrangements.
• Manual handling of heavy/awkward items and exposure to biological and chemical hazards in a risk-controlled environment will be a regular part of this role.
• This position requires a pre-employment medical be undertaken to demonstrate satisfactory fitness to undertake the physical requirements of this position.
• May be required to respond to after-hours facility and equipment alarms.
