About the role

We are seeking reliable and safetydriven Trade Assistants to support maintenance, and project works across a Alumina Smelter. You will assist qualified trades, contribute to shutdown and daytoday maintenance activities, and ensure work areas are safe, organised and ready for execution.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals wanting to develop their skills in a major processing environment and gain exposure to mechanical, fabrication and sitebased project work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist tradespeople with mechanical, fabrication, or general maintenance tasks.
  • Support shutdown work, including preparation, tool management and cleanup activities.
  • Operate basic tools and equipment safely and in line with training.
  • Maintain tidy, safe and organised work areas with strong housekeeping practices.
  • Perform labouring, equipment handling and manual tasks as required.
  • Follow direction from supervisors and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, prestarts and safety interactions.

About you

  • Previous experience in mining, industrial, construction or processing environments preferred.
  • Strong safety mindset with the ability to follow instructions and work within a team.
  • Willingness to learn and support multiple trades and work groups.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks in a busy operational environment.
  • Basic tool experience desirable; tickets such as Working at Heights or Confined Space are highly regarded.
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to highquality work.
