Manager - Digital Risk

The opportunity

We are looking for a Manager to join our Digital Risk team. This role is an opportunity to lead teams in one of the most dynamic areas of Risk Consulting, and develop your leadership skills in an inclusive and diverse environment. Our clients come from a wide range of industries and are transforming rapidly - modernising core platforms, scaling data and AI, responding to increasing cyber and regulatory expectations, and strengthening enterprise resilience across technology environments. As a Manager, you will lead the delivery of client engagements across technology risk, program and transformation risk, Responsible AI, data governance, operational resilience, digital compliance and IT internal audit. You will work with talented colleagues across EY and have the opportunity to build deep expertise across technology risks and design practical solutions to deliver client outcomes. This is a hybrid position based in Warrang - Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of Risk Consulting engagements, including technology risk assessments, IT control design and testing, program assurance and digital compliance reviews and IT internal audits.
  • Assess technology processes, risks and controls against leading practice frameworks and standards, such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, NIST, and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Act.
  • Manage engagement teams' day to day, including planning fieldwork, coaching team members, reviewing workpapers, managing timelines and ensuring deliverables are high quality and delivered on time.
  • Help clients identify improvements to strengthen governance, risk management, controls, compliance and confidence across their technology environments.
  • Assisting in the preparation of client-ready reports, translating technical findings into practical observations, risks and recommendations.
  • Build strong client relationships, working with technology, risk, audit, cyber, data and business stakeholders.
  • Work across EY teams, including Technology Consulting, AI & Data, and Business Consulting to bring the right capabilities together for our clients.
  • Support the development and coaching of junior team members, helping them to build confidence and technical capability in Digital Risk.
  • Ensure client deliverables are on time and to the standard expected by the client and Engagement Partner or Director.

Skills and attributes for success

The key attributes of the role are previous experience working in a consulting firm (Big 4 or boutique), who has a broad range of technology risk management experience to lead our existing portfolio of work and manage day to day engagement delivery/teams. A client-facing Digital Risk Manager who is curious, technical strong and passionate about helping clients to effectively manage technology risk. You will bring:

  • Experience delivering IT risk management, IT Internal Audit, Controls, Cyber Risk, Digital compliance or Technology consulting engagements.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan work, coordinate teams, manage stakeholders and deliver to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and translate technical issues into business-focused recommendations.
  • A practical and solution-oriented approach to risks and controls, with the ability to advise on improvements within the operating context of our clients.
  • Strong business acumen, interpersonal skills and confidence working with clients and multiple EY teams.
  • Inspiring leadership capability with the motivation to develop others, build high performing teams and effectively delegate with appropriate levels of support.
  • A genuine interest in emerging technology, including AI, automation, cloud, cyber, data and digital transformation.

Ideally, you'll also have the skills and attributes below but don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes. We're interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • 5+ years of experience in technology risk, IT audit, internal audit, assurance, cyber risk, digital compliance, risk consulting or a related field
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Information Systems, Technology, Finance, Business, Accounting, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline
  • Professional accreditations and qualifications such as CISA, CIA, CISM, CISSP, CBCP, CIPP, AIGP
  • Experience working in consulting, professional services, internal audit, or a regulated industry environment
