The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people's homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
We are inviting experienced Social Workers to join a dedicated team committed to improving, maintaining and promoting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children, families and communities. This rewarding role supports the delivery of the Building Strong Foundations (BSF) program and the Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS), providing specialist social work services that is culturally responsive and family-centred care through respectful, trusting and enduring relationships.
As a Social Worker, you will ensure the provision of comprehensive psychosocial assessments, care coordination and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. You will play a key role in supporting Aboriginal children aged 0-5 years, expectant mothers and families, while contributing to service planning, quality improvement, evaluation and reporting. The position also provides clinical supervision, professional leadership and specialist consultation to psychosocial clinicians, helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality, culturally safe care across the service.

What you will bring to the role
- Degree in Social Work and eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. Applicant must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander female (Applicants race and gender is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 and Section 13 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, (NSW)
- Extensive recent experience in the provision of clinical services with a complex caseload, requiring advanced casework, counselling and practice skills, and demonstrated experience in working with domestic violence, post-natal depression, child protection issues, low risk suicide and child development
- Experience working with people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and come from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. It is essential that the successful applicant has a high level of cultural competence, significant experience working with, and has connections to, Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to plan implement, evaluate and report on services, including identifying opportunities for improvement in clinical practice across psychosocial and multidisciplinary service delivery.
- Ability to practice within a Primary Health Care framework, including evidence informed interventions (such as group work/family therapy), building effective partnerships, record keeping and continuous improvement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management and computer skills
- Current NSW drivers' licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving between centres in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District
