Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title (levels A to D) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health. The academic title will be held for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters.

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways and Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians and /or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award with recognised training in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.
2. Provide expertise in the management of acute and chronic, complex respiratory disorders (such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchiectasis, empyema), complex sleep disorders, children with respiratory failure as well as lung transplantation.
3. Proven expertise in the performance and interpretation of flexible bronchoscopy and performance and interpretation of lung function tests.
4. Progressing toward or in possession of a higher degree in a relevant area and proven commitment to continuing education.
5. Proven track record in clinical research and is currently research active with supporting evidence and demonstrated commitment to teaching and quality improvement.
6. Participate in emerging department priorities such as managing children with complex airway anatomy such as cleft palate, and novel therapies in managing respiratory failure, lung transplantation.
7. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
8. Availability to participate in on-call respiratory and sleep roster, provide Bandaged Bear OPD respiratory and sleep clinics and to respond on site within a reasonable time for emergency bronchoscopy.
