Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical)
Key Areas of Responsibility
Provide technical and project management support to the Project Development and Business Development groups
Develop commercial relationships with external clients and provide solutions to those clients.
Prepare and document deliverables as well as identify technical risks for new and existing projects
Review and develop proposals for new capital projects utilising input from Operations Managers and their teams, ensuring accurate capital funds allocations and deliverables schedules are submitted
Liaison with and provision of engineering support for interfacing between outsourced engineering contractors.
Lead with the provision of external support environmental permitting, operational licensing, development applications and statutory approvals for projects as required
Be involved in the budget development and review process for new and existing projects
Be actively involved in the delivery of projects, monitoring of budgets and schedule, and reporting of budget and schedule departures
Actively ensuring own health and safety and the safety of others through understanding and awareness of workplace health and safety obligations
Support and comply with Company Policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors
Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as required
Person Specification
Proven ability to effectively communicate with the construction, purchasing, operations, and accounting groups within the project organisation
Strong understanding on financial returns on investment and environmental footprints
Ability to undertake scenario option analysis to meet the clients needs
Computer literacy using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and other computer based engineering packages
Ability to work within diverse team
Approachable
Ability to develop effective relationships internally and externally
Ability to travel interstate
Flexible attitude to changes in scope
Commitment to working flexible and sometimes long hours
Lead by example
Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualified Engineer (Mechanical) is essential
Thermal generation expertise (diesel and gas gensets), ideally remote power station applications is essential
Power industry/utilities background preferred
Previous experience on projects preferred
Strong commercial drive essential
Demonstrated teamwork skills
Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar roles
