About the Role

The Education Program Assistant plays a key role in delivering engaging and high-quality STEM learning experiences at Science Space. Working closely with the Education Partner & Program Coordinator, you will support the development, coordination and delivery of curriculum-aligned educational programs, science shows, outreach activities and visitor experiences.

This hands-on role contributes to inspiring curiosity and lifelong learning through innovative STEM education. Through exceptional program delivery, strong stakeholder engagement and a commitment to safety and service excellence, you will help strengthen Science Space's reputation as a leading destination for science education and community engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver STEM education programs and experiences.
  • Enhance visitor engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of educational programs.
  • Promote safe and effective operations across Science Space.

About the Team

Science Space is a dynamic and interactive science centre located on UOW's Innovation Campus. As part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) portfolio, the team delivers engaging STEM education programs, exhibitions and outreach initiatives for schools, families and the wider community.
The Education Program Assistant reports to the Education Partner & Program Coordinator and works closely with Science Partners, Science Space Ambassadors, Operations staff and external stakeholders to create memorable, curriculum-aligned learning experiences that inspire the next generation of scientists, innovators and problem-solvers.

What You'll Bring

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in education, science communication, STEM programs or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned STEM learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Well-developed organisational and program coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to safety, risk management and delivering exceptional visitor experiences.

Role Details

  • Employment Type: Permanent | Part-time (28 hours/week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
  • Classification: Level 5 | $85,682 - $96,898 per annum (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation
  • Location: Innovation Campus, Wollongong
  • Position Description
  • Valid Australian work rights are required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is not suitable for remote work arrangements in accordance with the UOW Remote Working Guidelines.
  • This position is classified as child-related work and requires a valid Working with Children Check.
  • This position is subject to a National Criminal History Check.
