About the Role: As Contract Project Manager, you will lead multiple concurrent projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. You will manage project finances, risks, and variations, while maintaining clear communication with customers and internal teams. Your work will directly influence project profitability, customer satisfaction, and the financial performance of the wider operations function. Key Responsibilities: Effectively communicate project risks, change management activities, and delivery strategies to internal stakeholders and customers. Develop, manage, and track project budgets to ensure scope is delivered within agreed financial metrics, including proactive variation management. Act as the primary escalation point for customers, driving timely resolution of issues and maintaining strong, professional relationships. Lead and oversee variation management across projects to protect and enhance project and services profitability. Conduct regular project reviews to assess project health, performance against plan, and adherence to scope and timelines. Provide detailed forecasting and reporting on projects in execution, including cost of sale, quoted versus actual hours, and progressive profitability. Manage project invoicing, progress claims, and cash flow to ensure timely billing and healthy financial position for each project. Coordinate cross-functional project teams to ensure deliverables are met and dependencies are managed effectively. Key Requirements: Demonstrated experience in end-to-end project management within a commercial or technical environment. Proven ability to communicate clearly and confidently with customers and internal stakeholders at all levels. Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience managing project budgets, cost controls, and profitability. Solid background in variation management, including identification, documentation, approval, and implementation. Experience in risk identification, mitigation planning, and change management within projects. Competence in project reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking using relevant tools and systems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage escalations and issues to resolution under time pressure. High level of organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Desirable Skills: Experience in contract or commercial project environments involving progress claims and cash flow management. Familiarity with project management software and ERP or financial systems. Background in engineering, construction, technology, or related project-based industries. Experience working in a matrix or multi-stakeholder environment with complex customer requirements. Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives or process optimisation in project delivery. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred. Additional training or certification in contract management, commercial management, or finance is advantageous.
