What you'll do:
WSP is seeking a skilled and motivated Control Systems Engineer to join our growing Control Systems & Communications team. This role offers the opportunity to work across diverse infrastructure and industrial automation projects, delivering end-to-end control system solutions from concept through to commissioning.
You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying PLC/SCADA systems, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients. Your key responsibilities will include;
- Lead end-to-end development of control systems, from concept design through to commissioning, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards
- Architect and program PLC and SCADA systems, with a strong focus on Rockwell (Studio 5000) and Schneider (EcoStruxure/Unity Pro) platforms
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to integrate control systems into broader project solutions
- Conduct system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation
- Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including:
- Functional specifications
- Control philosophies
- I/O lists
- Network architectures
- FAT/SAT procedures
- Lead and support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities, including on-site engagement
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Interface with clients to gather requirements, present solutions, and provide support
- Contribute to continuous improvement by developing standards, templates, and best practices
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or similar
4 - 8 years' experience in control systems engineering (industrial automation or infrastructure projects preferred)
Strong experience with Rockwell PLC platforms (RSLogix / Studio 5000), Schneider PLC platforms (Unity Pro / EcoStruxure) and SCADA systems (Citect, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware)
Solid understanding of OT networks and architectures and Industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
Experience applying IEC 61131-3 programming standards and structured programming practices
Proven ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation
Electrical design capabilities (e.g., schematics, panel design, or power systems) are highly desirable
Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform under pressure
