Optimisation Manager - Systems Integration & Rail
We are currently seeking an Optimisation Manager - Systems Integration & Rail to join our Automation & Optimisation team, based in Port Botany. In this role, you will be responsible for enhancing the efficiency and performance of terminal systems through seamless integration of Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), Fleet Management Systems (FMS), and automation technologies.
The role focuses on optimising and integrating key terminal operating systems for interface with new Automation technologies, while driving strategies to enhance rail capacity and container throughput.
The role will use analytics, modelling, and simulation to identify improvements, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify optimisation opportunities and develop innovative solutions. It also oversees system performance, ensures safety compliance, and provides technical support to maintain reliable, high-performing automated operations.
This is a 2-Year Maximum Term position working Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (flexibility available), with occasional weekend work required to support operational needs.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead end-to-end integration of TOS, FMS, and automation systems from design through to implementation.
Execute integration activities including configuration, SIT/UAT testing, and go-live delivery across ports and terminals.
Identify and drive optimisation opportunities in automated yard crane sequencing, with a focus on dual cycling.
Drive continuous improvement in system responsiveness and integration in collaboration with internal teams, port authorities, rail operators, and external providers.
Align system capabilities with operational procedures to enable standardisation and efficiency across terminal and rail operations.
Ensure integration solutions meet data governance, cybersecurity, and health & safety requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Strong understanding of terminal operations, including container handling, yard planning, and gate and rail processes
Demonstrated organisational skills to coordinate multiple projects and prioritise effectively
Experience with simulation tools, optimisation algorithms (e.g. Expert Decking, Prime Route), and advanced analytics platforms
5+ years of proven expertise in optimisation of automated systems
Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, cameras, sensors, scanners, PLCs, and onboard software systems
Demonstrated ability to improve system efficiency, performance, and operational outcomes
High level of problem-solving and decision-making capability
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business systems
