About us
Australian Red Cross has a network of over 180 retail stores where we raise funds to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in Australia, especially those affected by bushfire, flood and other disasters.
Each year, we rescue 450 tonnes of clothing from landfill, give opportunities to 5000 volunteers, and generate funds to help Red Cross support vulnerable people in Australia and around the world.
About the role
As our Derrimut Distribution Centre continues to grow, we’re looking for a motivated and people focused Team Leader to join our Merchandise Sorting leadership team.
Working in partnership with an existing Team Leader and reporting to the Manager, you will help drive the flow of quality goods through our national Distribution Centre. Together, you will oversee the sorting and grading of donated and purchased merchandise to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality stock across all sales channels. You’ll lead a team of paid staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of efficiency, continuous improvement, and strong performance.

- Proven ability to lead teams, manage staff, and coordinate volunteers
- Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and supporting teams to achieve results
- Experience in performance management and guiding team development
- Ability to communicate with clarity and impact
- Ability to prioritise by managing competing demands
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work in partnership with another Team Leader to achieve shared operational goals
- Commitment to diversity, with the ability to manage cultural and individual differences appropriately
- Capable of allocating and managing resources efficiently without compromising service standards
- Experience managing changing circumstances and new challenges
- Understanding of Australian fashion brands, trends, and retail operations
