Purpose of the Role
This is a newly created position following BGIS's successful acquisition of a significant government services contract.
As the Facilities Manager, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of owned and leased properties across Victoria, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, functional and optimised for long-term performance. Working closely with BGIS teams, contractors and client stakeholders, you will deliver exceptional facilities management services while supporting asset lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organised and customer-focused, with strong technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills and a passion for delivering quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance, inspections and day-to-day facilities operations across a diverse property portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance, essential safety measures, lease obligations and Victorian regulations.
- Coordinate contractors, monitor vendor performance and maintain safe work practices, permits and inductions.
- Build strong relationships with building occupants, landlords, managing agents and key stakeholders.
- Maintain asset information, work orders and reporting through BGIS Connect and other FM systems.
- Support lifecycle planning, budgeting, forecasting, capital works and minor projects.
- Coordinate tenancy works, relocations, fit-outs and make-good activities where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, maintenance strategies and operational efficiency through innovation and technology.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential
- Qualifications in Facilities Management, Building Services, Engineering, Trade or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing facilities across owned, leased or multi-site property portfolios.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance, contractor management and building maintenance.
- Experience coordinating maintenance programs, asset management activities and service delivery.
- High proficiency using FM systems, digital technologies and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience within government or large, complex property portfolios.
- Knowledge of asset lifecycle planning, capital works or sustainability initiatives.
Workplace Flexibility
Based on-site at Melbourne CBD and client locations, this full-time permanent role offers flexible start and finish times. Some ad hoc additional hours may be required to support operational requirements.
