Why Your Role Matters:
As the Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in establishing and leading critical projects from the outset. This will include identifying and building the right project teams, initiating and overseeing project delivery, managing IT stakeholder engagement, and ensuring quality assurance and alignment with the strategic direction of the Division of Operations.
UNSW is rolling out a new learning management system (LMS), approved in June 2026, as a major university-wide transformation by 2030. Delivered faculty by faculty and aligned with the 2028 Flex-Semester transition for early adopting faculties, it will reshape teaching and learning.
The LMS Program goes beyond technology, combining change, training, and engagement through a human-centred design approach. Joining now means contributing to a high-impact initiative with strong leadership and a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Oversight of strategic projects or initiatives including budget, schedule, risk, resource and change management, covering various stages of the project lifecycle from idea, discovery, design and delivery to post implementation review.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
- Manage development of Governance status and reporting across all levels of the University.
- Align to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects and initiatives are managed within a defined consistent and proven set of rules.
- Lead effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project or initiative
- Manage and engage staff assigned to project or initiative teams from within IT or across the University to drive a strong customer centric culture and deliver according to scope, budget and timeline.
- Where applicable manage communication with vendors in collaboration with the Procurement, Legal and Vendor and Commercial teams.
- Manage interests and opinions from subject matter experts, product owners, process owners and key stakeholders to ensure solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.
- Deliver high quality project or initiative status update reporting in internal tools such as Jira and Altus, as well as at a Domain level, with all relevant key stakeholders and where applicable with the Portfolio Steering Committee.

Skills and Experience Summary:
This role will suit an experienced Senior Project Manager who is confident leading complex strategic initiatives across the full project lifecycle. You will bring strong capability in governance, stakeholder engagement, risk, budget, resource and change management, and be able to lead cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes within scope, budget and timeline.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in similar roles, with substantial proven experience in programs and/or 10+ years Project Management.
- Prove project management experience with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and experience with PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or other recognised project management methodologies.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with excellent stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
