Position Overview:
As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer at Equinox Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering engineering solutions across multi-disciplinary projects. You will be responsible for carrying out piping design, preparing engineering documentation and design implementation while working closely with project managers, designers, and other engineering disciplines. What You'll Do
As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will support the delivery of safe, reliable, and code-compliant electrical systems. Your role will include:

Electrical Design & Engineering
Develop and review electrical system designs, drawings, and engineering deliverables
Prepare key documentation including:
o Single line diagrams
o Load lists
o Area classification drawings and reports
o Cable schedules and equipment specifications
Perform electrical studies using software such as ETAP or SKM (short circuit, load flow, coordination)
Support equipment sizing, power distribution design, and motor control systems

Coordination & Team Collaboration
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, piping, and instrumentation
Coordinate with drafting teams to develop and review models and drawings
Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers and stakeholders
Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients

Project Execution & Delivery
Support delivery of electrical deliverables aligned with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements
Assist with preparation of design basis memorandums (DBMs), scope documents, and technical reports
Contribute to material take-offs (MTOs), estimates, and procurement documentation
Review vendor data and support technical bid evaluations

Construction & Field Support
Support construction-phase activities, including responding to RFIs and technical queries
Participate in site visits and inspections as required
Ensure designs are practical, safe, and constructible

Safety, Quality & Compliance
Follow engineering quality processes and support verification practices
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE where applicable)
Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

About You
You are an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys practical design work, taking ownership of deliverables, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. You bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Registration or eligibility with Engineers Australia (or equivalent)
5-8 years of electrical engineering experience in oil & gas, energy, or industrial projects
EPCM or consulting experience preferred
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Technical Foundation
Strong understanding of power distribution systems (low and medium voltage)
Experience with equipment sizing, area classification, and electrical design practices
Familiarity with motor control systems and protective relaying concepts
Knowledge of relevant Australian and international codes (AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE)
Exposure to PLC systems and instrumentation interfaces is considered an asset

Software Proficiency
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or equivalent design tools
Experience with electrical system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or equivalent)
Working knowledge of model review tools (e.g., Navisworks)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools
